In-House Laboratory Testing

Our in-house laboratory facilities allow us to perform many types of testing that can aid in the diagnosis and treatment of your pet. An important member of our team is our Laboratory and Pharmacy Technician, who is able to perform these diagnostic tests for our veterinarians while your pet is being treated on an outpatient or hospitalized basis with accurate diagnostics available immediately when necessary.

We are able to perform many tests as they are needed for your pet’s care, including:

  • Blood tests
  • Urine tests
  • Skin scrapes
  • Heartworm Disease
  • Tick-borne Diseases
  • Ear cytology
  • Test for viruses:
(Parvovirus, Feline Leukemia Virus, and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
  • Mass cytology
  • Skin cytology
  • Complete blood counts
  • Chemistries
  • Glucose Curves
  • Electrolytes
  • Fecal examinations:
(testing for the presence of hook, whip, tape, and round worms)

Wellness testing can help catch many conditions early before they become serious illnesses.

Be sure to ask your veterinarian about which tests your pet may need during your pet’s next wellness exam.

Outside Reference Laboratories

Additionally, we have relationships with several outside veterinary laboratories for more specialized and routine testing. We utilize these outside reference laboratories for performing additional tests as needed.

Our main outside laboratory is Antech Diagnostics Labs, the nation’s premier veterinary diagnostic laboratory. Antech Diagnostics Labs can provide us with quick results for a wide variety of diseases, including the following types of tests:

  • Bacterial cultures
  • Fungal cultures
  • Comprehensive thyroid panels
  • Tick panels
  • Vaccine titers
  • Cytology
  • Histopathology

DNA Testing

We also offer DNA testing for your mixed breed dog. A small blood sample compares your dog to the DNA signatures of over 200 breeds, sub-types and varieties.

The DNA information gained can predict your dog's adult weight range, prescreen for breed related risk of developing certain genetic diseases and provides us with valuable information so we can work together to provide a lifetime care plan for your dog.
